Get involved to save Clayton Library

As you maybe aware the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council are having to make financial cuts.  One of the services affected will be libraries across the district and the changes will take effect in April 2017.  It is proposed that Clayton Library & Information Centre will be placed under a scheme known as a 'hybrid library'.  This means that it will be staffed partly by staff from Bradford Council, with an equal number of hours per week, staffed by volunteers.

*** IF WE DON'T FIND SUFFICIENT VOLUNTEERS CLAYTON LIBRARY WILL CLOSE ***

I know that Claytonians have a great community spirit and if we work together we can ensure the library remains open for the benefit of everyone who uses the services.  It also means that we will have greater say and control over what services are offered from the library and we need to look to diversify to accommodate effective use of the space, not only a place to loan books but a social space of interaction, engagement and knowledge transfer for the local community at large.

If you can provide few hours per week to volunteer then please inform the Parish Clerk or Chairman.

To find out more, a public meeting will take place on Tuesday 17th January 2017 at 6.30pm in Clayton Village Hall.
